This presentation was delivered during a keynote speech at the 2020 IMPACT Measures Tool® virtual learning event, “Measurement in Early Childhood: Building Pathways to Empowerment & Continuous Improvement.” Portia Kennel, senior advisor at the Buffett Early Childhood Fund, discusses priorities for early childhood measurement. Portia acknowledges the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in communities of low income; shares the role and impact of measurement in early childhood through the eyes and experiences of program leaders, based on key takeaways from interviews; and discusses challenges for practitioners, researchers, funders, policymakers, families, and community stakeholders when collaborating to rethink early childhood measurement.
