How to: Choose a Measure
There are a wide variety of measures available in the early childhood development field. This video explores how early childhood professionals can choose a measure that best works for them and their context, purpose, and price range. The video walks through an example of a preschool teacher who is interested in measuring the development of their students’ vocabulary skills. Four important aspects are highlighted as considerations when choosing a measure: cost, usability, cultural relevance, and technical merit. To start their own search for a measure, early childhood professionals can use the IMPACT Measures Tool® to compare different measures based on their goals and preferences.
